A Minneapolis-born college and professional basketball player told The Minnesota Sun and The Star News Network he is running for the GOP nomination to represent his city from Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District to unseat Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar.
“I think Ilhan Omar’s in on it. I mean, I think she’s in on it with the globalists, the uniparty,” said Royce White, who was drafted in the first round by the Houston Rockets in the 2012 draft. “I think she’s a puppet for this entire agenda to undermine America as a nation and to usher in a new global authoritarian society.”
White starred as a forward at Minnesota and later Iowa State, and in the 2011-2012 season for the Cyclones, he was an Associated Press All-American and the only Division I player to be his team’s leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots.
The former All-American said he would represent his native Minneapolis with integrity. “Tell the truth. Really it’s that simple. All the status quo of our politicians does is lie. That’s the status quo. That’s their modus operandi. That’s how they do business. It’s become a cadre and a cadre of lies.
Among Omar’s ethical lapses, she paid her husband more than $2.5 million as a consultant out of funds raised for her campaign. The former All-American said although it was legal, it was still wrong.
“Maybe I should pay my wife $800,000 to do consulting work. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t know how they think the game is, I don’t know what the rules of engagement are anymore, and that’s a problem for citizens. We can’t play the game if we don’t know the rules.”
Soon after White, who after his NBA career played in the Big3 League and competed in mixed martial arts, announced he was challenging a member of The Squad in February, the left-wing media has attacked him for his battles in family court over child support.
“I was court-ordered to pay child support based on an NBA salary that I didn’t really make, and the family courts never took into account whether or not I was blackballed from the NBA or whether or not I was no longer making that salary,” he said.
He said he is confident his family court issues will be resolved.
“I’m not really embarrassed by The Guardian or the article they put out regarding my family court matters,” he said.
“If anything, I was kind of elated. I’m like, let’s get to it. I got in this to have those kinds of conversations, not shy away from them.”
